These courses provide an in-depth introduction to Hawai‘i’s world-class visitor industry. Trainees will learn industry concepts and terminology as well as the practical application of theory to understand tourism and the visitor industry.

LB 310A – Hawai‘i Today for the Visitor Industry in Japanese
LB 310B – Hawai‘i Today for the Visitor Industry in Chinese
LB 310C – Hawai‘i Today for the Visitor Industry in Korean

These courses are similar to LB 160 (Hawai‘i Today) providing an introduction to the history of non-Native Hawai‘i residents and their effect on modern Hawai‘i. In addition students will learn how to apply these concepts within the visitor industry. Topics reviewed:
• The history of Hawai‘i’s immigrants
• The effects and culmination of cultures which have shaped modern Hawai‘i
• The various forces working in Hawai‘i’s “melting pot” or “salad bowl”
• Contemporary issues facing Hawai‘i now and in the future
