The number of international visitors coming to Hawaiʻi is increasing, and understanding their various cultural backgrounds is key to effectively serving them. These courses provide the knowledge and skills necessary to bridge cultural gaps and bring participants closer to the customers they serve. Cultural Intelligence means being aware of cultural differences and using that knowledge to interact with people in appropriate, sensitive ways. Filled with practical application, these interactive courses prepare attendees not only for Hawaiʻi’s increasing international visitor base, but for the amazing variety of people they may find themselves working with.
Attendees will learn how to apply the concepts presented in this course to both customers as well as colleagues in order to improve relationships, customer loyalty and the performance and enjoyment of working in an international environment.
LB 100 offers an introduction to general cultural awareness concepts and appreciation of differences between various cultures. This introduction can act as a stand-alone course, but also serves as perfect primer for the following, more specific courses, LB 110, 120 and 130 which give particular attention to Japanese, Korean and Chinese culture, perspectives, customs and practices.
All four of these courses introduce concepts of cross-cultural intelligence with
